Westland Cask Exchange

A series of special releases focused on regional partnerships

As an extension of Westland’s exploration of Pacific Northwest terroir, their Cask Exchange program focuses on cultural terroir through the release of whiskeys finished in casks exchanged with local breweries. Each release is a single cask yielding approximately 275 bottles. For the packaging, we developed a two-label system: one label ties directly to the Westland brand and meets all legal content requirements, while the second label is available for expressive artwork representative of and custom to the release. The expressive side of the package presents a creative opportunity to embody the illustrative qualities of craft beer packaging and allows for each release to have its own visual interpretation. The artwork for each release is then broken out into subsequent pieces for marketing and promotional purposes. As a collection, the series represents the breadth of variation in the Pacific Northwest craft brewing scene and the vast possibilities of flavor within American Single Malt Whiskey.
