A milestone in American Single Malt

The 10th Edition of Garryana represented a significant shift for the Westland brand. With its 8th and 9th editions recognized amongst the best and most interesting whiskeys in the world, it was time for Garryana to move out of its position within Westland’s Outpost Range series, a collection of three annually released whiskeys, and become the distillery's most premium offering. This required developing new packaging that elevated Garryana’s presentation, and entailed introducing new finishes and design elements.

The task was to bring the new package closer to Westland Flagship packaging while making it distinctly Garryana —more premium, more sophisticated, more everything. Our solution was to bring back the tree ring motif behind the diamond shape of the label from the earliest editions of Garryana as a nod to the whiskey's history, updating it with foil and embossing and leaning heavily on red accents throughout the packaging to distinguish it from Westland’s other products. This was also to be Westland’s first 10-year-old Age-Stated whiskey, where the “Aged 10 Years’ mark was to be prominently featured on the package, and adapted to a metal die-cast coin embedded in the closure, a material accent new to this edition.

The aesthetic of the package was extended to full-size and 200ml sampling kits, marketing materials, event promotions, and graphics and wayfinding materials for the launch event.
